What Hardware Park does
Mission
To promote the growth of design, engineering, and manufacturing of physical products in alabama. Focuses on equipping high school and college students with specialized skills and knowlege while also educating professionals on turning their innovations into reality.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Program
Hardware Park advanced their next generation (nextgen) program that provided funding for 3 cohorts of interns in 2024. The spring cohort was 12 weeks and included 12 part-time interns and carried out initial research and design for od revive, a birmingham-based concept-stage startup. They developed a truly portable wheelchair ramp that could attach to a wheelchair and be deployed by users who still have reasonable upper-body mobility and strength. The fall cohort was 12 weeks and included 10 part-time interns. One 3-person team (endoswipe) worked to create a mechanism to clean the lens of an endoscope during a procedure. Another 4-person…

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2023, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2023, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $265k to $1.1M (+329%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2023 92%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
100% of HARDWARE PARK’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (61% for the typical peer).
