What Goodwill Association of Michigan does
Mission
The Goodwill Association of Michigan will leverage and maximize opportunities for its members.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Program
The Goodwill Association of Michigan serves its 10 member agencies that represent all 83 counties. The primary mission of the agencies served is to change lives and communities through the power of work and helping individuals gain a higher level of independence. There are many people in our state that have disabilities and other barriers to employment and independence. Gam helps to cultivate relationships and opportunities state-wide in a variety of different ways. We look at funding opportunities for new and existing program development along with hiring opportunities. Gam also works with member groups for the facilitation of best practice sharing. We continue to meet with key groups such as human resources, donated goods and workforce development. Connecting goodwill agencies has grown the number of projects accomplished regionally that include two or more goodwills. This has grown workforce development and training opportunities for the people served by members.all of these activities assist the main missions of the member organizations in improving the quality of the lives of those we serve.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $72k to $108k (+51%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of GOODWILL ASSOCIATION OF MICHIGAN’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 8 reported years ran a deficit.
