01What it does

What Gallant Hearts Guide Dog Center does

Mission

To breed, raise, train and place healthy, well-trained dogs to lead people who are blind and to do all things necessary to achieve this goal. Gallant Hearts Guide Dog Center provides guide dogs, free of charge, to qualified individuals to enhance dignity, promote independent living, productivity, and self-confidence, through improved mobility.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. During 2024 gallant hearts renovated an old, 5 run kennel with indoor/outdoor runs for the guide dogs in training and breeding stock. This is a state of the art kennel with controlled environment and more sanitary living conditions. This renovation was done at no expense to gallant hearts through the generous donation of a supporter.the organization bred two litters of puppies and the breeding and raising of these puppies were funded through a grant from the delta gamma foundation. Some puppies were donated to the organization and gallant hearts purchased a couple of puppies that were needed for training.the donations from delta gamma chapters continue to improve each year and the contribution from the organization's bingo hall also increased and is likely to increase more during 2025 as significant changes and improvements are being made in the bingo operation.a grant writer has been identified and in late 2024, gallant hearts contracted with the grant writer and received funding from another organization to help with the costs of the grant writer.

2 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 8% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of GALLANT HEARTS GUIDE DOG CENTER’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 7 of 8 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

GALLANT HEARTS GUIDE DOG CENTER leans on a few funders — its largest provides 82% of grant income and the top three 98%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

90% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund GALLANT HEARTS GUIDE DOG CENTER.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $30k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
