01What it does

What Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation does

Mission

Focf is operated entirely by an unpaid, volunteer board; we have no salaried staff, and our operating expenses relate directly to the fog rally and its fundraising activities. Each year, the organization conducts an annual charity car rally, and after covering event costs from rally revenues and sponsorships, net proceeds are donated to youth-focused charities recommended by participants and approved annually by the board of directors.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. In 2024, the fog rally jointly benefited make-a-wish foundation and the Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation (focf) fund for kids. This year marked the eleventh consecutive year of our partnership with make-a-wish and the fifth year of the fund for kids. Fundraising efforts generated 42,000 for make-a-wish, bringing focfs cumulative support for make-a-wish to more than 2,000,000 and helping enable over 200 wishes for children with critical illnesses. In addition, the 2024 fog rally raised 42,000 for the focf fund for kids, bringing cumulative fund for kids support to over 400,000. These dollars are distributed as grants to youth-serving organizations in the bay area, expanding access to education, literacy, and basic resources for disadvantaged children. In 2024, fog rally raised 84,000 in cash grants and approx. 82,500 in in-kind contributions (auction items, experiences, and services). Net proceeds funded make-a-wish (11th consecutive year) and our focf fund for kids, providing grants to six additional youth-serving nonprofits.

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $12k → $18k.

5 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 73% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of FERRARI OWNERS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

FERRARI OWNERS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 39% of grant income and the top three 67%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

73% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund FERRARI OWNERS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $66k arriving through sponsors registered in 5 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
