01What it does

What Destiny Reflection USA does

Mission

Our mission is to disrupt the cycles of sexual exploitation and human trafficking in kolkata. We do this by providing tailored and holistic support for the most vulnerable survivors.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Survivor reintegration through employment - the "survivor reintegration through employment" program is our main activity to support survivors of human trafficking by donating funds to a social enterprise in kolkata, india that employs survivors. The funds go to the export company named reflection (which is the commercial part of the social enterprise, whereas destiny foundation is the charitable arm that covers social, educational, and medical needs). The funds are used to cover the salaries of artisans, the sewing trainer's salary, the maintenance of sewing machines, etc. In 2022, there were 15 women employed by the social enterprise. The goal is that they eventually find a professional jobs as a seamstress.

2021 → 2023: the base narrowed from 3 funders to 2 funders, grant income fell $55k → $20k.

3 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 75% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is

DESTINY REFLECTION USA leans on a few funders — its largest provides 43% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund DESTINY REFLECTION USA.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

75% of DESTINY REFLECTION USA's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $35k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Florida, across 1 state.

VA

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $105k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
