Mission

To foster, encourage and develop educational opportunities and programs in latino and other communities on a broad range of issues, including health care, education, police protection, immigration and employment.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Through our medical aid program in 2022 we helped uninsured and underinsured patients obtain or gain access to critical medical care. Most of these patients are low-income and/or have resources that are insufficient to pay for all or part of their medical care. We helped patients gain access to critical medical care, obtain needed physical exams, helped patients with co-pays, and assisted with medical aid for gravely ill patients. We also expanded our medical aid project in mexico. We provided prescription drugs support, helped provide surgery for sick patients including a man who had a collapsed lung, a woman who had a cancerous back tumor, and a young woman who needed emergency foot surgery. We also helped provide low-income or unemployed individuals with urgent prescription medications, including cancer drugs. We also successfully helped several patients in the united states fight excessive medical bills and collection efforts. Our cumulative medical assistance number is now over 13

In may, we won a $320,000 finra judgement against morgan stanley and an unscrupulous broker who defrauded a mexican farmer who lost over $400,000 usd due to deceptive and egregious misconduct.

  3. Our corporate corruption advocacy project had us continue working with federal investigators and providing information to the u.s. Department of justice to help combat corruption and other crimes surrounding the legal profession. In 2022, we also worked with the u.s securities and exchange commission over alleged fraudulent behavior of a major u.s. Energy company. Our work from 2021 that eventually led to a federal indictment against the attorney for possession of child pornography, saw him sentenced in 2022 to over 8 years in federal prison. We also educated the public and media about law firm corruption, unsavory conduct in the electric utility industry, and environmental racism.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of CONSEJO DE LATINOS UNIDOS’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of CONSEJO DE LATINOS UNIDOS's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $123 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
