01What it does

What Companimals Pet Rescue Inc does

Mission

1) To provide temporary foster care for homeless animals while seeking qualified permanent homes for them. 2) To provide public education about animal rescue and the importance of spay/neuter in controlling pet overpopulation. 3) To seek funds from public and private sources to enable these objectives and purposes.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. The organization is an all-volunteer "No Kill" Rescue. The mission is to take in unwanted, abandoned or abused dogs, cats, and other small pets and to place them into permanent homes and to provide sanctuary for the animals whose age, health issues or temperament precludes them from adoption.

    $0 spent
  2. Dogs and Cats are neutered, vaccinated, & receive all necessary medical treatment before being made available for adoption. Through volunteer and outreach programs, the organization educates the next generation about the importance of spay and neuter and giving a lifelong home to their pets. Animals are rescued regardless of breed, age, and/or medical condition.

    $0 spent
  3. The organization has rescued more than 2,800 unwanted pets. They have expanded to help all animals in need but specialize in the "un-adoptables": Cats and dogs missing hair, animals needing surgery prior to adoption, missing limbs or eyes, Sick kittens or puppies that have a very poor outlook at local shelters, and any animal that needs extra care before finding their permanent home.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 4 funders, grant income rose $402 → $16k.

4 of 9 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 95% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of COMPANIMALS PET RESCUE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

COMPANIMALS PET RESCUE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 63% of grant income and the top three 93%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

95% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund COMPANIMALS PET RESCUE INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

33% of COMPANIMALS PET RESCUE INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 78% give in more than one year at all.

Where its funders are

95% of COMPANIMALS PET RESCUE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $4k that is directly attributable, 78% of it comes from funders outside Pennsylvania, across 4 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $68k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
