01What it does

What Carries TOUCH Inc does

Mission

To break the silence that adversely affects the african american community with regard to breast cancer with the hope and intent to increase the number of survivors through education, support and testing.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Awareness education & outreach - carrie's touch is known for our innovative ways to engage the community through awareness and education. We connected with audiences from california to new york using theatre as our vehicle to raise awareness and educate patients, their families and the community on the importance of understanding breast cancer and other chronic illnesses. Education through art has allowed the power of community to heal while promoting mental, emotional and physical well being

$196,268 spent$245,368 earned by the program

  2. Survivor support & rapid response - survivor support is a staple for us. We believe by celebrating breast cancer survivors gives them hope and encouragement. Openly addressing mental and emotional health supports survivors through our partership with licensed therapists and cancer coaches. An extension of our survivor support is our rapid response program. This program is literally saving lives. Rapid response addresses urgent patient needs. Housing costs have soared nationally making it even more difficult for patients to sustain. Our average request dramatically increased to $2,400. We supported 27 women.

$117,966 spent$15,322 earned by the program

  3. Research & advocacy - research - project soar (speaking our african american realities) launched our intervention study. "awakenings, a randomized controlled trial for black women diagnosed with breast cancer." two cohorts were held with 15 women in each cohort. Cohorts are intentionally capped at 15 to allow time and space for participants to openly share and process their feelings and emotions regarding their cancer journey. Advocacy - carrie's touch continues to be a voice for the voiceless fighting on the frontlines daily, advocating for policies that make a real difference in our community. Pharmacy benefit management (pbm) reform, and the protecting patient access to cancer and complex therapies act (protecting patients act) remains a priority for us

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income fell $28k → $13k.

4 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 18% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Carries TOUCH Inc’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Carries TOUCH Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 42% of grant income and the top three 82%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

99% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Carries TOUCH Inc.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

50% of Carries TOUCH Inc's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 38% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $32k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
