Form 990-ez, part iii - primary purpose the organizations primary exempt purpose is the support, enrighment, and education of students of briarwood elementary school, a public school in the shawnee mission school district, located in prairie village, Kansas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- form 990-ez, part iii - program service accomplishments additional support and ed enrighment opportunities are provided to the approximately 650 briarwood students. The support and enrighment is provided through various school-wide and community activities and resources that are not provided by the school district. This includes supplementary reading and math educational tools, student activities and events (such as field trips or cultural arts programming), parent education, community involvement and events,maint of the scholl garden and/or landscaping, or staff appreciation - all fully or partially funded by the pta or provided by pta volunteers. The pta has also provided additional support by funding a full time innnovation specialiast to address needs of students. Part iii line 28 - student suport/enrichment: the approximately 650 students are provided additional learning support and enrichment through educational resources not provided by the school district. This would include items such as cultural arts/assembly, field trip support, scholastic magazines, and other educational enrichment. Total student support/enrichment expenses = $11,710 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ part iii line 29 parent education and community/school involvement and recognition: parents, students, and staff are provided opportunities for community involvement and support, beautification of the scholl through landscaping activities, and inclusiviness and diversity events in the school community. This is accomplished through a variety of activities such as staff support and appreciation, yearbooks for every student, community events, and other various support and activities provided by the pta that are meant to include everyone in the community. Total expenses for parent education and community/school involvement and recognition expense = $40,975 part iii line 30: innovation specialist the pta has provided additional support to briarwood elemenatary, the local school supported by the pta, by providing the salary of an innovation specialist. This position is not provided by the school district and it has been identified as an area of need for all students at the local school.
