Primary exempt purpose - Nami Lansing provides education, support and advocacy to individuals and families affected by mental illness. We are represented on the tri-county steering committee for crisis intervention training for first responders and other community organizations. We provide information to policymakers regarding policy needed to improve treatment and outcomes for individuals with mental illness. Form 990-ez, part iii, line 28,program service accomplishments : education / outreach - Nami Lansing presents and collaborates with other organizations on public events that improve mental health awareness and increase understanding of mental illness, treatment options and recovery. Nami Lansing provides newsletters and free educational materials on mental health topics to individuals and organizations. Form 990-ez, part iii, line 29, program service accomplishments: signature programs - Nami Lansing provides the national alliance on mental illness's evidence-based signature programs which are free to the public. The programs consist of the nami in our own voice, presentation to community groups on the experience of living with mental illness and in recovery; nami ending the silence, a presentation for students in grades 6 and up that covers mental illness awareness, asking for help, and a hopeful message of recovery; nami peer-to-peer, a class for individuals living with mental health conditions; nami basics, a class for family members of children and youth with symptoms of mental illness or emotional distrurbance; nami family-to-family, a class for relatives of adults with mental health conditions; nami connection, a support group for adults 18 and older who are living with mental illness; and nami family support group, a support group for family members and friends of people with mental illness.
