01What it does

What West Virginia Health Information Network Inc does

Mission

To provide the health care community with a trusted, integrated and seamless electronic structure enabling medical data exchange necessary for high-quality, patient-centered care.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

The organization received federal pass-through funding from the state to provide education, technical assistance, and connectivity to certified community behavioral health centers.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Health information exchange (hie): as the vast majority of providers in west virginia see medicaid patients, the work funded by participant fees was essentially the same as outlined above. Medicaid pays its fair share based on the number of medicaid participants and their utilization while participant fees support the remainder of operations. Work with payers for non-medicaid lines of business included on-boarding staff, discussion around strategies for incorporating data related to social determinants of health and referrals, as well as, quality and hedis measures. Wvhin continues ingesting and displaying sdoh assessments from one provider, and continues to work with other providers to ingest and display sdoh assessments.

Over 33 million targeted cend encounter notifications were created and made available to participating organizations in the past fiscal year.- new preventive services alerts were made available as of january 2025 with nearly 48 thousand alerts available in the first six months of 2025.- implemented the new population explorer tool for targeted patient management. - continued to support numerous tools to assist participants and public health officials with the response to infectious disease including various means of electronically reporting lab results, immunizations and vital signs, and providing hospitalization reports for respiratory diseases. - received admit, discharge, and transfer (adt) data directly…
