Comunidad seeks to build community, cultural pride, and economic opportunities for the Latino community on Vashon Island and its neighboring communities.

Program
1. Youth Programs and Leadership Development Comunidad offered mentorship, training, and other resources to support the economic and social development of all interested residents of Vashon Island and its surrounding areas, and particularly youth and young adults. Comunidad facilitated youth-led leadership meetings to teach youth about community organizing and leadership and engages them to identify solutions to problems facing Latino youth on the island. 2. Cultural and Community Outreach Comunidad strengthened the Vashon Island community and fostered a sense of belonging and healing for all its residents through culturally relevant initiatives and programs, including two Mercados (community market) featuring small or incubating businesses coached by Comunidad. Comunidad conducted an annual listening session with community members, where residents delve into their aspirations, concerns, and interests. 3. Business Support and Economic Development Comunidad provided workshops and access to business development support to members of the underserved and marginalized Latino community through partnerships with local experts, organizations, and businesses.
