What Utility Contractors Association of Wa does
Mission
501(c)(6) trade association activities include "dig safe" certification seminars required under state law to avoid excavation of utility lines; college scholarships to needy students; annual "dozer days" event for children to encourage construction careers and provide grants to 501(c) organizations.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
The organization hosts "dozer day--where kids drive". Dozer day is like going to a fair only the rides are real heavy construction equipment. Kids hop in the driver's seat and actually drive dozers, excavators and other heavy equipment with a professional operator at their side. Not only is it a dream-come-true for kids (and fun for the whole family), the event also benefits many children's charities that complete grant applications. Grants to attend for needy children are provided. The event is entirely conducted by volunteers and is sponsored by the organization and local businesses.
Dig safe: education seminars and programs to utility contractors and employees of government entities to assure that excavation and construction processes minimize the likelihood of striking underground utilities such as electrical, gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, and other underground utilities.
Sponsorship of meetings to disseminate information relative to the business in which utility contractors are engaged, safety education, impact of laws, recruiting of new employees into the construction trades through university construction management degrees

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $293k to $471k (+61%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Leadership and staff
The officers, directors, trustees and key employees listed on each return. Joined and no longer listed compare each filing with the year before, matching people by surname and first initial; a year after a gap, or a roster under three people, has no comparison.
