01What it does

What US Wildlife Trafficking Alliance does

Mission

The u.s. Wildlife trafficking alliance is a coalition of nearly sixty leading nonprofit organizations and companies, working closely with the u.s. Government, to combat the illegal trade of wildlife in the united states.

As stated on its FY2017 Form 990.

Program

The u.s. Wildlife trafficking alliance coordinated efforts to: (1) raise the public's awareness of the scope of the wildlife trafficking crisis; (2) reduce consumer demand for wildlife and wildlife products; and (3) mobilize companies to adopt best practices to assure that their goods and services are not being utilized by illegal wildlife traffickers, and to assist in raising public awareness and reducing demand.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990, which lists programs largest first by expense.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of US WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING ALLIANCE’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of US WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING ALLIANCE's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $133k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
