What University of North Texas Alumni Association Inc does
Mission
The mission of the UNT Alumni Association is to foster a lifelong spirit of belonging and pride by connecting alumni and friends to the University of North Texas and each other, while striving for profound engagement with a community committed to supporting and advancing UNTs excellence. The purpose of the UNT Alumni Association (AA) is to support the University of North Texas (University or UNT) by serving as the mechanism to engage alumni and friends in the life of the University by (a) establishing and maintaining positive, quality relationships between the University and its alumni; (b) encouraging graduates, former students, and friends of the University to promote and advance the mission and priorities of the University; and (c) promoting the general welfare and interests of the University through the provision of alumni service to the University as approved by the University. By offering programs and benefits that are relevant to alumni constituents and are in the best interests
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program and a significant change in how it conducts a program.
In FY 25, the Alumni Association started paying for GameDay Grill and an Away Game Football tailgate, both of which were events previously paid under the University Alumni Relations budget. However, these two, like all our events that are undertaken are in line with other types of events we do that are targeted to alumni and student engagement, so I would not necessarily consider them a new type of program service, more of just another one of the type of events we already engage in. Additionally, we launched the North Texas Network, a networking and engagement platform (powered by a software called Hivebrite) to connect and engage our alumni regardless of where they are. The cost of the Hivebrite software itself is paid under the University budget (not the Association), however we do have some expenses related to the promotion of the North Texas Network as part of our Alumni Engagement and Outreach programming. This includes mailers, social media ads, and giveaways of promotional items to encourage alumni to sign up to the network, and to encourage their engagement on the platform and with the Alumni Association. By engaging our alumni base on this platform, it allows them to interact directly with the Alumni Association and other alumni through posts, alumni networks, and the ability to connect with alumni directly in their area. This is a new program within our Alumni Engagement program service area.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).
In Spring 2025, we completed the process of transitioning away from memberships and fully discontinued all memberships, including annual, lifetime, and Student Alumni Association. This was done to create a more inclusive approach towards welcoming all alumni as part of the Alumni Association and remove barriers to participation, making the connection more relational than transactional. This means that when memberships were fully stopped, no further membership revenue was collected through the University/Alumni Relations and no further costs related to fulfillment, membership promotion or renewals, or other membership related costs were incurred on the Association side. Other than the membership transition, the organization has not made any significant changes or ceased operations of any program services.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $1.2M to $1.6M (+30%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2017 46% · 2018 35% · 2019 39% · 2020 63%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 3 funders, grant income rose $253 → $10k.
2 of 9 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 25% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
Left out of every figure on this page: $154k from one payer (the same organization on both sides, largest University of North Texas Alumni Association Inc). These are real filings, and they are not money UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC raised.

How concentrated its funding is
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 73% of grant income and the top three 99%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
99% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 60% · 2021 99% · 2022 76% · 2023 97% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How long its funders stay
20% of UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 22% give in more than one year at all.
Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.
Where its funders are
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Texas, across 6 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
