01What it does

What United Veterans of Maine does

Mission

Our set of programs were created to assist our veterans who have found themselves homeless or struggling with substance abuse, to find a safe and healing place to transition from military careers to productive civilian life. We will act as a conduit for current services available while working within a complicated federal, state, and local systems to identify shortfalls.

As stated on its FY2021 Form 990.

Program

The Transitional/Developmental Program is a structured program where the veteran has timelines and responsibilities to perform work duties. As part of the program, participants are required to work with agencies to take advantage of services to help them succeed at overcoming what life obstacles they may be facing. Any gaps in services are identified and addressed while they live in a controlled enviroment.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990, which lists programs largest first by expense.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of UNITED VETERANS OF MAINE’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of UNITED VETERANS OF MAINE's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $83 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
