01What it does

What Tobys Place Inc does

Mission

Toby's Place helps people with developmental disabilities thrive by offering vocational, residential and social opportunities that foster growth, dignity and belonging.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2025 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

Toby's Place Baking Program provides individuals with disabilities hands-on training in baking and food preparation. Participants learn to read and follow recipes while developing skills such as time management, task sequencing and teamwork. The program produces organic dog biscuits sold through local retail shops, restaurants, and the Saturday Farmers Market, where participants also gain valuable customer service and social interaction experience.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Provide training and employment, and employment opportunities for young adults with intellectual and developmental needs. At the present time we have eight young adults employed at Toby's Place. They are learning to take on the responsibility of employment. Fourteen young adults who worked at Toby's Place are now working at other jobs in the communities where they live.

  2. Allow people with disabilities to have the experience of living independently, with other peers, in a shared housing environment. We currently have seven young adults who live in our housing facility. We have a resident advisor who maintains the home and provides dinners. Parents and/or Community Support Workers, who have been hired by the residents and their parents, are providing support as needed.

  3. In 2025, Toby's Place Baking Program supported five participants in developing vocational and life skills through hands-on experience baking and selling dog biscuits. With guidance from one Baking Coash and two volunteers, participants sold over 600 bags of dog biscuits at local Farmers Markets and in seven local retail stores, gaining confidence, work experience, and meaningful community interaction.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base held at 2 funders, grant income fell $1k → $758.

1 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 2% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of TOBYS PLACE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

TOBYS PLACE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 76% of grant income and the top three 98%; half comes from just 1 funder.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $409 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
