01What it does

What Theatrikos Theatre Company does

Mission

To be a leading arts organization in Northern Arizona, offering high-quality live theatrical productions and educational opportunities, utilizing a diverse base of talent which represents and reflects the community at large.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. COMMUNITY BASED THEATRETheatrikos Theatre Company seeks to bring both the very best of live theatre to the Flagstaff stage and to provide outstanding theater education for youngsters through our Theatrikds program. Although like many theaters, Theatrikos experienced drastic attendance reductions during the most severe Covid years of 2020 and 2021, unlike many community theater companies that closed their doors, Theatrikos survived through a combinaation of extreme frugality and innovative programming. Our attendance has grown since 2021, and in 2024, we averaged 73% capacity attendance for our season. These shows also exhibtited strong production values and laid the groundwork for an even more successful 2025 season. Our Theatrikids program also reached near capacity in 2024, including adding an additional performance camp over the December Holiday break. We believe--and the numbers support--that Theatikos is poised for strong and sustained growth, anchored by a dedicated corps of volunteers, increased donorship, and excellent leadership.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $500 → $7k.

4 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 23% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THEATRIKOS THEATRE COMPANY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THEATRIKOS THEATRE COMPANY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 56% of grant income and the top three 80%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

97% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THEATRIKOS THEATRE COMPANY.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $66k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
