01What it does

What The Phoenix Alliance of North Carolina Inc does

Mission

The Phoenix Alliance (TPA) fights against human trafficking by focusing our efforts in the areas of prevention, intervention, advocacy, and after care. We use a variety of methods to educate communities and individuals against the dangers of sex trafficking. We identify victims through referrals, through response to our trafficking safety curriculum, and through our investment in youth within the juvenile justice system. In the USA we have ongoing work in North Carolina and Indiana. Overseas, we are partnering with a shelter home in northern Thailand.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. North Carolina Program: In 2025, TPA staff continued regular visits to the Guilford County Juvenile Detention Center, helping young women to begin recovery from trafficking situations. Our North Carolina Area Director continued working as a Guardian Ad Litem, advocating in an official capacity for vulnerable children and families in the community. She assisted in multiple court ordered placements. and met with children monthly, in collaboration with social workers, teachers, family, and law enforcement to provide a clear picture to the court. TPA staff continues to teach and advocate for human trafficking awareness, healthy habits and identity.

Ongoing aftercare was provided for up to eight simultaneous "tier 1" (highest level of care) beneficiaries, and twelve lower-level cases. In addition, TPA staff presented at conferences and community trafficking awareness and prevention events. 1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE PHOENIX ALLIANCE OF NORTH CAROLINA INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of THE PHOENIX ALLIANCE OF NORTH CAROLINA INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $496 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
