01What it does

What The Dryden Ensemble a New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation does

Mission

To provide concerts of baroque and early classical music

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Baroque Lute Duets. February 16. Daniel Swenberg and Dusan Balarin on Baroque lutes, theorbo, Gallichone, Mandolino It was said that back in the 18th century, it was more expensive to keep a lute in strings than it was to keep a horse. This program presents a stable full of lutes from Daniel and Dusan's collections. It features rarely heard 18th century duets of Falkenhagen, Lauffensteiner, DuFaux, and Hagen, along with period arrangements of Purcell, Telemann, and Vivaldi.

  2. Royal Concerts: the Marvelous Mr. Meusel: March 16. This concert offers a rare glimpse into an underrepresented performance-practice of lutes and harpsichords: performing en concert with doubling strings and winds. This is the repertoire featured in royal apartments, from Paris & Versailles to Gotha, from London to Leipzig. This concert will be the regional premiere of the Concerti of Gottfried Meusel-court lutenist at Gotha. Dryden regulars Daniel Swenberg (Baroque Lute, Theorbo, and Gallichone), Webb Wiggins (Harpsichord), Lisa Terry (Viola da Gamba), will be joined by Taya Tarasevich Koenig (Baroque Flute)

  3. Baroque Passion: April 19. Special guests Clara Rottsolk (soprano) and Arnie Tanimoto (viola da gamba) join the Dryden Ensemble to explore the rare and expressive Passion arias of Bach, Gebel, and Ferrandini that featured lutes and viols.

Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $17 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
