01What it does

What The Aba Academy Inc does

Mission

To educate students with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities in a setting where they can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Our programs have a foundation in the evidence based practices of applied behaviorial analysis.

As stated on its FY2018 Form 990.

Program

The aba academy was founded in march 2013 and opened in august 2013. In the 6 years since we opened, the school has grown to serve 50 students with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. The students have the opportunity to work with the teacher both one to one and in small groups of a maxium of four to six students. This low teacher student ratio provides the students with frequent learning opportunities throughout the school day which is imperative for students with special needs. The clinical director is a board certified behavior analyst and is in the classrooms daily to provide on site guided feedback to teachers and intervene with behaviors of students that may interfere with them reaching their learning potential.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990, which lists programs largest first by expense.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2022: the base narrowed from 2 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $34k → $5.

3 of 5 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 78% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE ABA ACADEMY INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE ABA ACADEMY INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 40% of grant income and the top three 91%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

78% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE ABA ACADEMY INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 81% · 2018 51% · 2019 54% · 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% — growing more concentrated.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

78% of THE ABA ACADEMY INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $39k that is directly attributable, 57% of it comes from funders outside Florida, across 2 states.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $138k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
