What St Joseph's Villa Foundation does
Mission
St. Joseph's villa foundation was organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes, and particularly: *to solicit, receive and administer gifts, grants, contributions and donations for st. Joseph's villa, and *to distribute funds to st. Joseph's villa and its three related organizations in support of their various programs and activities. These distributions form an integral part of the on-going operating budget of st. Joseph's villa.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
The st. Joseph's villa foundation focuses on educating current and prospective donors about the benefits of strengthening its long-term invested funds through outright and planned gifts. During the reporting year, the foundation promoted planned giving through multiple communication channels, including features in semi-annual print newsletters distributed to 3,147 households; a dedicated section in the annual donor impact report distributed to 2,867 households; one targeted mailing sent to 594 households; and periodic electronic communications, including a make-a-will month e-blast distributed to 3,061 households. In addition, the foundation highlighted legacy giving through two donor features included in its newsletter communications. The foundation also contracts with a third-party provider to develop, maintain, and regularly update the estate planning section of the st. Joseph's villa website, ensuring donors have access to current and accessible information regarding planned giving and estate planning options, including educational articles, planning tools, and resource materials designed to support informed philanthropic decision-making.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $23M to $28M (+22%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
4% of ST JOSEPH'S VILLA FOUNDATION’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (39% for the typical peer).

How concentrated its funding is
ST JOSEPH'S VILLA FOUNDATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 100% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ST JOSEPH'S VILLA FOUNDATION.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 100% · 2019 100% · 2021 99% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration.
