01What it does

What Spanish Peaks Alliance for Wildfire Protection does

Mission

The mission of the Spanish Peaks Alliance for Wildfire Protection is to collaboratively protect the Spanish Peaks area of Colorado, the wildlife, and precious water resources from the impact of destructive fire events. Our objectives are to use a Master Plan to identify critical areas of mitigation, education of the public, secure funding for training and professional expertise and to secure matching grants for property and homeowners to create defensible space. In addition, we collaborate with county, state, and federal agencies to obtain funding to mitigate wildfire risks, protect watersheds, protect wildlife, create healthy forests, and evaluate risks to evacuation routes to permit safe evacuation in case of wildfire.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

How concentrated its funding is

Spanish Peaks Alliance for Wildfire Protection leans on a few funders — its largest provides 71% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Spanish Peaks Alliance for Wildfire Protection.
