What Southwest Health Center Inc does

Mission

Caring. For life.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. Southwest health center, inc. (the organization") provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency, outpatient behavioral health, and clinical health care services and other financial support through various programs that are designed, among other matters, to enhance the health of the community including the health of low income patients. Consistent with the mission of the organization, care is provided to patients regardless of their ability to pay, including providing services to those persons who are either underinsured or who cannot afford health insurance because of inadequate resources. Health care services to patients under government programs, such as medicaid hospital services, are also considered part of the organization's benefit provided to the community, since a substantial portion of such services are reimbursed at amounts less than the costs of providing care. Patients who meet certain criteria for charity care, generally based on federal poverty guidelines, are provided care at a significantly reduced rate, determined based on qualifying criteria as defined in the organization's charity care policy and from applications completed by patients and their families. 1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 6% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of SOUTHWEST HEALTH CENTER INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SOUTHWEST HEALTH CENTER INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 70% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

75% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SOUTHWEST HEALTH CENTER INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 84% · 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

SOUTHWEST HEALTH CENTER INC draws 74% of its grant income from funders outside Wisconsin, across 2 states in all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
