What Skyes the Limit Foundation Inc does

Mission

The Mission of Skye's the Limit! Foundation is to raise awareness of trauma-informed care through education and provide resources while conducting art-based and nature-based intervention strategies as both intervention and preventative measures for substance use and suicide.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Our Trauma Informed Community program is building a coordinated response to childhood trauma by training parents, teachers, staff of youth-serving organizations, and other adults to employ a trauma-informed approach when caring for youth impacted by trauma. We trained 422 individuals in 2023. The collective understanding of experts, researchers and direct service providers in the fields of child welfare, youth development and trauma is that expanding universal best practices of trauma-informed care is a crucial step in mitigating the effects of childhood trauma. Through webinars, presentations, and trainings, our Trauma Informed Community program helps adults better understand trauma, recognize its triggers, employ tools to help youth regulate emotions during stressful times, prevent re-traumatization, and build youth resiliency. By investing in and building trauma informed communities, Skye's the Limit Foundation is effectively minimizing the negative, long-term impacts of childhood trauma. This program provides training to organizations that serve people who use substances as well as to Parent groups. After this training, an individual will understand how to implement harm…

  2. Our Resilient Youth Through Arts & Nature Based Intervention program employs a trauma-informed approach designed to help youth and young adults impacted by trauma heal, build resiliency, and connect to peers with similar life experiences. The program also helps young people develop safe relationships with caring adults trained in ACEs and Trauma-Informed Care. According to the Arizona Trauma Institute, the key to recovering from trauma and building resilience is forming a positive, trusting and long-term relationship with a guardian, parent, or peer. Therefore, this Youth Empowerment program intentionally strengthens peer to peer, parent and child, and youth leader to youth relationships. The program offers the following activities to youth (typically 13-21 years old) who have experienced trauma. Skye's the Limit! Foundation established a permanent art-based intervention healing studio site in 2023. We developed and facilitated these alternative prevention and intervention art activities: JCORPS art-based intervention, summer arts with youth, heART Club youth arts afterschool, Open Art Studio, Art of Zen project, the Art Rocks! 03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base narrowed from 2 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $10k → $48.

3 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 28% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of SKYES THE LIMIT FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SKYES THE LIMIT FOUNDATION INC has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 34% of grant income, and it takes 3 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 3 funders to its left

52% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SKYES THE LIMIT FOUNDATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $20k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
