01What it does

What Shad Williams Evangelistic Association Inc does

Mission

Shad Williams Evangelistic Association and Global Field Evangelism exists to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. We teach and disciple indigenous evangelists in developing countries on how to do evangelism and disciple new Christians. We support indigenous evangelists who we have trained under our ministry to do the work of evangelism.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The Global Field Evangelism network of national evangelists exists in 14 countries in Africa: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These teams work all year round preaching in villages, market-places, prisons, high schools, colleges, and at Jesus Film shows. They are funded to do these meetings and receive personal support from the US ministry of SWEA. This year they conducted 28,512 separate meetings. They preached to over 24,654,000 people and recorded over 22,619,000 individuals who indicated a decision for Christ. They also held 173 seminars where they trained 36,842 pastors, evangelists, and lay-people on how to do personal evangelism and how to conduct church-wide and mass evangelism events. We purchased 6 vehicles to use for evangelistic purposes: 1 in Burundi, 2 in Rwanda, 2 in Tanzania, and 1 in Uganda.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base held at 4 funders, grant income fell $101k → $100k.

6 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 92% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of SHAD WILLIAMS EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

SHAD WILLIAMS EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 41% of grant income and the top three 88%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

92% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SHAD WILLIAMS EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

92% of SHAD WILLIAMS EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $104k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Tennessee, across 1 state.

NC

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $1.3M arriving through sponsors registered in 6 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
