01What it does

What Scarritt Foundation does

Mission

We believe pets uplift people. We provide access to critical veterinary care for families in financial hardship and support 501(c)(3) organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The initial year of the Scarritt Foundation was largely used to ramp up administrative and fundraising activities which are 100% underwritten by sponsorship. All general public donations are used to advance the foundation's programs including pup outreach, impact grants, critical care grants, and mini grants.

  2. Pup (pets uplifting people) outreach is a monthly mobile clinic offering a variety of vet services at no cost for dogs and cats of unhoused individuals and those receiving government assistance. Each month, we set up in different parts of southern arizona to meet the need with no barriers, just care.

  3. Scarritt Foundation provides grants that strengthen animal welfare across southern arizona. Our funding supports programs and urgent needs that align with our mission pillars: supporting animal companions of the unhoused; providing critical veterinary care; and rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals. We fund organizations that demonstrate measurable outcomes, transparency, and lasting impact. Impact grants are up to $200,000 and support broader programs in rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming. Critical care grants are up to $75,000 and support urgent veterinary procedures or life-saving interventions. Mini grants are up to $5,000 and support time-sensitive needs related to veterinary care, supplies, shelter improvement, or outreach services.
