01What it does

What Rockvale Writers' Colony Inc does

Mission

Rockvale writers' colony exists to support, promote, and educate writers of all backgrounds who write in any genre. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment where writers can settle in as "writers in residence" to work on a writing project.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Rockvale writer's colony (rwc) provides aspiring writers with a distraction-free environment that is necessary for creating intense, focused works. Writers who need a quiet place to work on an upcoming project can stay on the premises (the "colony") as a way to improve an existing work, complete an existing project , or simply to improve overall writing skills. Writers generally stay at the colony between 1-4 weeks, depending on the size of the project and/or the needs of the writer. In addition to offering a peaceful work environment, rwc conducts workshops and genre-specific retreats throughout the year that allow aspiring writers to learn ways to improve their craft. Rwc also has a mentorship program where the writers attending rwc's events can receive focused feedback on the projects they are currently working on. As more funds are raised, rwc intends to continue finding ways to support more and more writers in furthering and improving their craft.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ROCKVALE WRITERS' COLONY INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of ROCKVALE WRITERS' COLONY INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $173 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
