What Revels North Inc does
Mission
Celebrating diversity and traditions through music, dance, and drama
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
The christmas revels has been an annual family-friendly celebration of the winter solstice since 1975, presenting songs, dances, stories, and celebrations from different cultural traditions around the world. Performances have featured traditions from england, ireland, scotland, wales, appalachia, france, italy, scandinavia, russia, eastern europe, and the balkans. Local children, teens, and adults perform on-stage alongside nationally known guest artists representing that years traditions. Due to financial constraints, the annual december show was replaced by a scaled-down version performed by the revels kids as part of the 2024 woodstock wassail weekend celebration in woodstock, vt.
$17,528 spent50% of program spendingRevels traditions is a suite of year-round programs emphasizing community participation. Revels community dances are a free intergenerational evening of joyful dancing, drawing community members of all ages with easy instruction for newcomers. Revels pub sings are free, family-friendly events held at a local restaurant, an opportunity to share food, drink, song, and camaraderie. Revels band of fools is an all-age musical ensemble modeled on the community street band. Revels kids is a program aimed at teaching revels traditions to the next generation of revelers. In 2024, a series of workshops including clogging, a spring chorale workshop and concert, and a fall english village carols workshop replaced the annual christmas revels production.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $55k to $19k (−65%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2018 3% · 2019 3% · 2020 6% · 2021 40% · 2022 5%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
35% of REVELS NORTH INC’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (64% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $900 → $12k.
1 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 0% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of REVELS NORTH INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
REVELS NORTH INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 51% of grant income and the top three 97%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 85% · 2019 54% · 2020 72% · 2021 45% · 2022 99% · 2023 83% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
51% of REVELS NORTH INC's grant income comes from New Hampshire funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $108 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
