01What it does

What Redbud Resource Group does

Mission

Our work advances tribal sovereignty, cultural revitalization, community wellness, and equitable stewardship of lands and water. We connect native communities and institutions to create change.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Redbud improves health outcomes for native american communities through education, research, and community development. Our work addresses inequities rooted in land theft, forced assimilation, and the disruption of indigenous cultures and ecosystems. We center native knowledge and leadership while bringing communities and institutions together to build healthier relationships, strengthen tribal sovereignty, revitalize culture, and advance lasting changes in the systems that shape community health

  2. Through going beyond land acknowledgements and right relations, redbud trained and supported organizations seeking accountable, lasting relationships with native peoples and tribal nations. Workshops, field learning, organizational assessments, cohort learning, and strategic consulting helped participants understand tribal sovereignty, examine institutional practices, and move from symbolic recognition toward sustained partnership and action.

  3. Redbud strengthened native leadership, wellness, and advocacy through the restoring right relations and feather river advocacy project programs. Community gatherings, leadership development, cultural revitalization, and land and water advocacy connected native leaders with one another and with agencies and partners. Redbud also advanced culturally responsive health care through seeing our native patients, which equips health professionals to better understand and serve native patients and communities.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2021 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 13 funders, grant income rose $10k → $463k.

6 of 18 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 31% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of REDBUD RESOURCE GROUP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

REDBUD RESOURCE GROUP leans on a few funders — its largest provides 38% of grant income and the top three 66%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

44% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund REDBUD RESOURCE GROUP.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $362k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
