What Plano Community Forum does
Mission
Plano Community Forum's primary purpose is to provide scholarships to minority students graduating from Plano Public Schools, and to support community involvement and cultural enrichment.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
One of the primary pillars (programs) of the Plano Community Forum is to award scholarships. The Plano Community Forum awarded scholarships to 7 students to support their continued education into college. Four students received scholarships upon graduating from high school. Each student received funds sent directly to their institution. These students had excelled academically and through extra-curricular activities. All of the students continued into 4-year institutions across the nation. Once the students are selected PCF hosts a reception for the students and their families to celebrate their accomplishment and present their scholarship information to them. This event is intended to be celebratory and supportive for the students. An outside speaker is usually invited to share an inspirational message with the students to help them transition into college life and being away from home. Lastly, one $1500 scholarship is awarded to a Collin College student during the Collin College MLK Power Leadership Breakfast. PCF also hosts a scholarship bootcamp to help students and parents in building systems to look for scholarships and funding for college. This program includes strategies…
$14,521 spent35% of program spendingThe second pillar (program) of the Plano Community Forum is community involvement. The Forum hosted its annual MLK citywide program that brought community leaders, civic leaders, churches and youth together to celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday. This weekend-long celebration included a business and information expo during the Power Leadership Breakfast where we hosted business owners and nonprofits and local candidates for municipal and county leadership. Additionally, the Forum donated to the Plano Police Association's Christmas Cops program donating 13 coats for children in Plano that find themselves in urgent need of clothing from family circumstances. The Forum received the grant for 2024 in early 2025 after the event. Some expenses were accounted for in 2024. The 2025 grant for the 2026 program was received in late 2025. So, two grant deposits were made in 2025.

The Forum hosted a citywide Juneteenth Celebration that brought together community organizations, civic leaders, faith leaders and residents to celebrate Juneteenth. The event included live music, education about Juneteenth, special guests such as local pastors, Miss Black USA (Texas), NAACP, the Pan-Hellenic Council, Fellowship Christian Community Church and many others. The highlight was a concert by a local female band, Audacity.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $42k to $161k (+285%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
98% of PLANO COMMUNITY FORUM’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (73% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 1 of the last 4 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2019 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $500 → $17.
1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 4% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of PLANO COMMUNITY FORUM’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
PLANO COMMUNITY FORUM leans on a few funders — its largest provides 84% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2019 100% · 2020 78% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
PLANO COMMUNITY FORUM draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Texas, across 2 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $49 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
