What Patriot K9 Rescue Inc does
Mission
Our mission is to provide retirement and adoption services to our retired military and police K9's. Including but not limited to veterinary care, transportation services, training, safe, clean housing, rehabilitation, and to provide life saving equipment for active working K9's in need. When a handler is no longer able to care for his K9 we provide transportation, needed medical care, a heated and air-conditioned facility to rehabilitate as needed. These working K9's have saved 100's of lives, and upon their retirement they deserve to be treated as heroes and to retire into loving homes to live out the end of their lives. We provide that service as well as life saving equipment for active working K9 Units in need. In our first year we have focused on educating the public of the value these K9 provide our communities and our country and the need to protect them when their service is over.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
We have had the privilege to work jointly with agencies to re-patriot 21 dogs from Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, UAE, Capital Police, and many other police K9's. These K9's have saved countless lives. The K9 is the one "piece of equipment" that has stood the test of time and cannot be duplicated with any of today's technology. We do educational awareness at schools, and corporate events to inform the public of the safety K9's provide, often behind the scenes in our everyday lives. To date we have placed approximately 170 K9's into loving homes. Those that are deemed unadoptable remain at our facility to live out their lives in comfort, with the dignity they have earned.
$0 spentPatriot K9 Rescue has filed and received Dissolution Clearance Certificates on 10/10/2024. After dedicating years of service to our K9 Heroes we have reached the age of retirement and have decided to retire. We enjoyed our years of service and wish to thank all of those who have supported us and adopted our Hero Dogs.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $23k to $0 (−100%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 4 of the last 7 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $394 → $23k.
2 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 97% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of PATRIOT K9 RESCUE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
PATRIOT K9 RESCUE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 97% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
97% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PATRIOT K9 RESCUE INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 89% · 2021 94% · 2022 94% · 2023 98% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
97% of PATRIOT K9 RESCUE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $2k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Pennsylvania, across 1 state.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $65k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
