01What it does

What Parents for Great Camden Schools does

Mission

The mission of Parents for Great Camden Schools (pgcs) is to empower, mobilize and strengthen the voice of every new jersey parent to advocate for all children to receive a high quality education. Pgcs has emerged as the parent support and advocacy group in an education ecosystem with a variety of autonomous public schools including district, renaissance and charter schools. Our work in camden meets a critical need - ensuring parents in camden have the necessary support to access high quality education opportunities, as well as, a mechanism to advocate for great education opportunities for all camden children.

As stated on its FY2019 Form 990.

Program

We work as an organizer, mobilizer and navigator, through a campaign style approach, for camden parents to create the conditions for academic success for camden students. Our organizing work builds a community of parents focused on identifying and addressing education priorities. As this foundational parent base is built, our mobilizing work moves parents to act on these priorities. As parents are organizing and mobilizing around improving education in camden, our navigating work provides them with guidance and support to help them find the best schools for their children.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PARENTS FOR GREAT CAMDEN SCHOOLS.
