What Open Schools World Wide Inc does
Mission
Open schools worldwide, inc. Supports empoverished youth and young adults including education.
As stated on its FY2018 Form 990.
Program
Open schools worldwide, inc.responds to the educational needs of children who are shut out of the traditional school system or are at risk of educational failure for reasons beyond their control. It aims at developing compassionate relationship and a supportive environment to overcome trauma and some of the obstacles to learning. These children are taught by trained volunteers using an interactive proprietary curriculum for teaching literacy and numeracy skills. Life skills are taught through games. In 2018 there were over 6,000 children enrolled in the program in south africa, zambis, zimbabwe, kenya, and ethiopia. Children in zimbabwe are from the bushman tribe and the binga tribe. The government doesn't provide schools for either of these groups. In zambia, near victoria falls, sufficient volunteers are trained for 200 children, which the leaders believed to be the maximum that would show up. On the first day of classes more than one thousand children along with their parents showed up. The parents wanted classes for themselves, because they hadn't learned to read or write. Programs in south africa are located in soweto, hammanskraal, moiplaas, mathibeste, and along the coast.…

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $19 → $30.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of OPEN SCHOOLS WORLD WIDE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of OPEN SCHOOLS WORLD WIDE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $122 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
