01What it does

What One Love Animal Rescue and Sanctuary does

Mission

One Love Animal Rescue and Sanctuary rescues domestic "companion" type animals and provides medical and behavioral rehabilitation services to them for the goal of re-homing them to permanent, adoptive families. It also provides a lifetime sanctuary for those rescued animals who are determined to be medically or behaviorally unsuitable for re-homing to the general public. It also aims to educate the public on the care, needs and environmental protection and management of the species it works with to prevent additional animals from needing to be rescued in the future.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Reducing pet homelessness and overpopulation through spay/neuter, rehabilitation and adoption programs: largest expenses are medical care, and food/supplies for the animals in care. This program accounts for approximately 55% of total expenses in 2023. Total animal intake during 2023 was 251 and animal adoptions was 193.

  2. Providing emergency medical care to pets who would otherwise be euthanized for medical reasons: pet owners and regional county animal shelters often euthanize animals with treatable medical conditions for financial reasons. The organization took in and covered the cost, treatment and rehabilitation of multiple animals in need of live-saving medical care for issues such as severe viral infections, seizure disorders, skin conditions (I.e ringworm and mange), limb amputations, developmental deformities and more. This program accounts for 25% of total expenses in 2023.

  3. Educating the public on animal care, welfare and conservation: the organization engaged in live tours, presentations at schools, public events and adoption fairs aiming to educating the public on animal welfare topics, proper and safe animal care and interaction, the importance of spay/neuter for household pets and broader concerns affecting the types of animals we work with and how people can make a difference to these animals in their daily actions. The organization also distributed educational material specific to the rescue and sanctuary animals. This program accounts for 15% of total expenses in 2023.

49% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ONE LOVE ANIMAL RESCUE AND SANCTUARY.
