What Nokomis East Neighborhood Association does
Mission
Neighborhood revitalization and community engagement NENAs mission is to better the quality of life and build a sense of community pride by sponsoring actions which help our environment, businesses and homes. NENA invests in neighborhood improvement, builds community connections, encourages citizen participation and advocates for the interests of the Nokomis East neighborhoods.

Program
In 2024, NENA hosted more than 18 events that brought neighbors together and partnered with local nonprofits, churches, government and individuals to build opportunities in the neighborhood. NENA hosted a three-part workshop on seed saving, an Earth Day neighborhood cleanup, free community meals, community safety forums and a friendly competition to see which neighbor could pick up the most trash. In addition, NENA raised more than $11,000 to support renters and prevent evictions in the neighborhood, sponsored several community gardens, offered matching grants to improve curb appeal, home security, and business facades, and organized residents in the Bossen area. NENA also produces a monthly newsletter and spotlights a different business each month.
