01What it does

What Mogro Mobile Grocery does

Mission

Mogro is a nonprofit mobile grocery committed to providing healthy food that people can depend on. We are dedicated primarily to increasing access to healthy food, and secondarily to supporting local food systems by purchasing from local farmers and suppliers.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Food access: in 2025 mogro purchased 533,000 from local farmers growing in new mexico, the vast majority of which was produce. Our locally grown food was delivered to over 20 clinics, schools, and community sites throughout new mexico. Partners at these drop-off sites, such as presbyterian community health, cnm, and three sisters kitchen connected patients, schools, and community members with mogro food bags tailored to each partner site. Through these partnerships, mogro distributed 42,000 bags of fresh food in 2025, or 378,000 pounds (252,000 meals), making mogro one of the largest buyers of new mexico grown produce in the state.

  2. Advancing agricultural markets for provider prescribed produce (aamppp): beginning in 2023, mogro partnered with 20 new mexico farmers and the presbyterian healthcare services' northern roots program to pilot this 3-year usda-funded program to provide fresh produce to food-insecure patients at 3 northern new mexico clinics. Health care providers are involved every step of the way from conversations with patients about the benefits of fresh produce to tracking outcome indicators. The long-term goal of this program is to prove the health benefits of fresh produce and pave the way for insurance providers in new mexico to include food access as a standard preventative health benefit.

1 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 22% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of MOGRO MOBILE GROCERY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

MOGRO MOBILE GROCERY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 51% of grant income and the top three 94%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

43% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MOGRO MOBILE GROCERY.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $22k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
