Programs
Michigan premier public health conference (mphhc): an annual conference for public health professionals in local health departments, state departments, and academia, is planned and executed by the organization on behalf of the department of health and human services (dhhs). Approximately 350 people attend this two-day conference, with one-day pre-conference. In addition to dhhs funding, revenue is generated from other sponsors, advertisers, and exhibitors.

In response to these calls to action, a group of 25 state and local public health leaders participated in a strategic visioning process in march 2024 to imagine a new, ambitious vision for public health in michigan. Participants agrees that the new vision should lead to improve public health outcomes by strengthening the state and local public health infrastructure, expanding funding, enhancing state/local collaboration, and increasing understanding of and trust in the public health system. This draft version was presented at the michigan premier public health conference in october 2024. Implementation of strategic priorities related to the vision began in 2025.

Events planned by local health department staff, and supported with these funds, also allow for social interaction and networking among coworkers that has been sorely missed in this time of primarily remote work.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2017 to 2018, from $1.6M to $1.1M (−33%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2022 17% · 2023 36% · 2024 39% · 2025 62%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
