Programs

  1. "there's a monkey in my chair"- the program is designed for preschool and elementary-aged children who are missing school because of cancer. Each child is provided with a monkey kit featuring a large stuffed monkey that takes their place in school when they are unable to be there. The kit includes a backpack, book, and other items that can be utilized by the child and their classmates including a secure way to send e-mails and pictures to one another. The program is distributed through more than 200 hospitals across the united states. The program is provided at no cost to the family and hospital.

  2. Family support - the love, chloe family support program provides direct financial assistance to families that have a child diagnosed with cancer. This support is through family grants, warrior wagons, and one-on-one support. The warrior wagons provide families with essential travel items, toiletries, blankets, games, toys, activities, snack, and many other items for the child, their siblings, and parents. Wagons also include gift cards for the family to help with food and travel expenses. Research - the love, chloe foundation funds ground-breaking research through the dipg collaborative and the dipg/dmg research funding alliance. We work with several other organizations to make a bigger impact with our research funding and also to eliminate duplication. We work together to make sure we are funding the best and most innovative research.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 10 funders, grant income rose $66 → $31k.

3 of 17 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 33% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of LOVE CHLOE FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Top 16 of 17 funders by total. Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

LOVE CHLOE FOUNDATION has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 18% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

49% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund LOVE CHLOE FOUNDATION.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

67% of LOVE CHLOE FOUNDATION's funders are still giving 2 years after their first grant; 47% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $51k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
