What Konkourona Alliance Foundation Inc does

Mission

KAFO works to break the cycle of poverty in Konkourona. KAFO aims to bring hope and opportunities to the people living in Konkourona, Burkino Faso through access to education, healthcare, water and sanitation in our First Mile Community Development Program.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  3. Significant development activities have been completed in Konkourona since KAFO was founded in 2019. There is an increasing need for management of those activities, which span programs for education, healthcare, water and sanitation, economic development, and environmental protection. A headquarters building was constructed to serve as an office for the community and temporary housing for government officials and visitors, who come to inspect, and for teachers as new schools and more permanent housing for the teachers can be built. Construction of a middle school, technical school and high school are planned for the coming years. The headquarters building was opened in Sep-2022.

  4. Healthcare center: repairs were needed to the healthcare facilities to fix the electrical system, roof, drainage, interior doors and bricks that were improperly installed by the original builder that funneled water into the facility when it rained rather than away from the building. A new builder was chosen to complete the work after several months of unsuccessful follow up with the original builder.

  5. A Womens Center was built to support healthcare improvements in the community. It will be used for vaccination campaigns, health training (e.g. nutrition, hygiene, etc.), ophthalmology and other community needs. It will also be an opportunity for women to run small businesses to improve household finances. This is in response to recommendations from the District Medical Officer in Burkina Faso when the Health Center was opened.

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of KONKOURONA ALLIANCE FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

KONKOURONA ALLIANCE FOUNDATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 97% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund KONKOURONA ALLIANCE FOUNDATION INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $359 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
