01What it does

What Jajjas Kids Inc does

Mission

Jajja's Kids, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for former street children, by providing funds for education, food, shelter and health care. Our funding helps support a non-governmental organization that we have worked closely with for over 15 years. That NGO provides a home for children who were too poor to attend school and sometimes lived without food or shelter. The NGO also provides the surrounding community with training in English, music and dance. We believe that given the right opportunities, all these children can grow up with the ambition, ability and community support needed to drive their own economic and social futures. This is the purpose of our work.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. We have one primary program service area: grant funding to an NGO dedicated to the following program activities executed through that organization: 1) A home that houses 20 children, two live-in staff, and office space for five other staff. 2) Monthly expenses in support of the home and children, including food, utilities, staff salaries, household supplies and medical care. 3) School costs that include tuition, uniforms, books, school bags, pencils, paper and porridge.

Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2018 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $5k → $11k.

2 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 9% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $6k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
