What International Lung Cancer Foundation does

Mission

The International Lung Cancer Foundation aims to accelerate the pace of thoracic malignancy research, to inspire researchers to focus their careers on lung cancer, and to reduce the worldwide lung cancer mortality rate.donations from patients, caregivers, and those individuals passionate about accelerating the pace of lung cancer research, as well as from our organization and corporate partners, go directly to funding our research grants.

Program

On its FY2022 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

A board decision was made to discontinue operations of the International Lung Cancer Foundation as it was no longer sustainable. All assets were transferred to the related organization - international association for the study of lung cancer.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Fellowships - provided to train next generation of lung cancer specialists. Funding for iaslc fellowship and young investigator awards provides for training of fellows and young investigators who wish to pursue a career in diagnosis, treatment, laboratory research or other aspects of thoracic malignancies.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of INTERNATIONAL LUNG CANCER FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of INTERNATIONAL LUNG CANCER FOUNDATION's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $102 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
