What Indy Dance Council does
Mission
Our mission is to connect and organize the Indianapolis Dance Scene and make it more visible to the greater community. Through hosting events and providing a digital clearing house, we are creating opportunities for people to engage with and support the art form of dance. The organization is organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3).
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
The 2024 Indy Dance Festival was held July 19-21. This event is the physical embodiment of the organization's mission to create community and bring people together to celebrate and enjoy the art form of dance. Nearly 150 performers and teachers participated, roughly 450 audience members attended performances, and roughly 150 dance students from across central Indy attended masterclasses. It employs contract artists as collaborators and invites audiences to experience new and diverse dance styles present in the city. Free dance classes are offered for underserved dance populations, including Ballet & Dance for 50+ Movers, Dance for All Abilities, and Dance for Neurodivergent Youth. Free community panel discussions are also held throughout the weekend.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2024, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2024, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $8k to $14k (+72%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
81% of INDY DANCE COUNCIL’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (78% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 1 of the last 2 reported years ran a deficit.
