What Highline Medical Center Foundation does

Mission

Highline Medical Center Foundation brings our community together to support exceptional health care, close to home, for all who need it. Thanks to the generosity of our caring neighbors and friends, we help ensure that St Anne Hospital has the resources it needs to keep people healthy and save lives. The foundation supports the provision of high-quality, leading-edge, compassionate care.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

This program serves over-utilizers of our Emergency Department who have chronic medical conditions, who are low income and who many times, also have mental and behavioral health issues. A care management team address the needs of each Health Connections participant, supporting the participant to eliminate barriers, create a road map to success and achieve the ultimate goal of staying out of the hospital and taking initiative in their own health and well-being. A multi-year program, the program has served hundreds of people and continues to be successful in exceeding expectations, cutting hospital costs and most importantly, it continues to produce positive patient outcomes. Other focus areas of Foundation support for St Anne Hospital include nursing advancement and engagement, medical innovation and emerging and critical need. The Foundation offers scholarships and support for nurses and doctors who are continuing their education or who are looking for professional…

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 6 funders, grant income rose $200 → $23k.

4 of 17 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 21% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Left out of every figure on this page: $1.3M from 2 payers (the payer shares this organization's board, largest Commonspirit Health). These are real filings, and they are not money HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION raised.

From the IRS filings of HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION has a broad base — no single funder exceeds 19% of grant income, and it takes 4 funders to reach half.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 4 funders to its left

51% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

23% of HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 47% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $30k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
