01What it does

What Highland Montessori School does

Mission

HMS is a Montessori Preschool for children ages 2-6. We are dedicated to Montessori principles, including a multi-age classroom and emotional-social education at a young age. We are dedicated to reaching out to our families, building community, and equal-opportunity for all students. Driven by current tuition revenues, HMS seeks to eventually serve underprivileged families by offering scholarships. HMS provides regular parent-education programs.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. HMS educates young children based on the principles established by Dr. Maria Montessori. HMS intends for its students to become independent, self-aware children who will excel at future levels of education. To accomplish this, HMS emphasizes a multi-age classroom and emotional-social education, even for our youngest students (2 yrs). We are further dedicated to the families of our students, and to being good stewards in our neighborhood and surrounding community. Our teachers' skills are not limited to the classroom. The School Director also conducts Parent Workshops and Parent Conferences. All activities during the school day are provided at no charge above the monthly tuition. Working within a system that provides a low student-teacher ratio, our teachers are dedicated to exploring ways of teaching in order to better serve these goals. 2024-25 was the school's twelfth year in operation.

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 7% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $446 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
