Programs
Public Access to Natural Areas: land acquisition and management, and build and maintain trails. Green Earth currently owns seven preserves open to the public 365 days a year. Expenses consist of mowing, amending trails and parking areas with gravel, adding signage, constructing footbridges, etc.

Green Earth's preserves are managed to promote native flora and fauna. Because most of these properties were in poor condition upon acquisition (fallow farm land, overgrazed pasture, etc.) significant time, energy, and funds are used for habitat management. Expenses consist of purchasing hand tools, power tools, personal protective gear, herbicides, herbicide applicators, trainings, etc.
$10,709 spentof which $4,405 as grants33% of program spendingEnvironmental Education and Outreach: trail guides/trail signs, classroom field trips/visiting classrooms, tabling events, public speaking, newsletter, website, and social media. Green Earth educates on environmental topics passively through our newsletter, website, social media, trail guides, and trail signs. We actively educate on environmental topics by hosting school field trips, visiting classrooms as guest speakers, tabling at events, and speaking in both public and private venues. Expenses consist of printing trail guides, purchasing trail signs and kiosks, publishing a quarterly newsletter, educational materials, and craft supplies for children's actvities.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $831k to $980k (+18%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 27% · 2022 12% · 2023 29% · 2024 12% · 2025 6%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
70% of GREEN EARTH INC’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (88% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $13k → $133.
3 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 99% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of GREEN EARTH INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
GREEN EARTH INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 69% of grant income and the top three 99%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
99% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund GREEN EARTH INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 100% · 2020 78% · 2021 100% · 2022 99% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
99% of GREEN EARTH INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $500 that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Illinois, across 1 state.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $52k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
