01What it does

What Goebel Family Foundation Inc does

Mission

This organization is focused on helping women and children in northeast wisconsin by providing them the tools and knowledge to not only survive, but strive in this world.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2023 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

Goebel Family Foundation Inc dissolved effective 12/31/23, and transferred it's assets to a new organization which will continue the program service of we empowher - supporting women in crisis through various means. The fish for kids program has been discountinued.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Fish for kids teaches children how to fish and provides them with the necessary fishing gear to continue in the future, all at no charge. Fish for kids provides children with the opportunity to get out and enjoy fishing either on their own or with their parents. Attending a fish for kids event will start a great pastime for individuals to enjoy with family and friends for their entire lives.

  2. We empowher is a year-round program that aims to support women in crisis, major life transitions, or those seeking opportunities for personal growth. By developing self-sufficiency, an understanding of radical self-love, and connections to mentors and community resources, we empowher aims to ensure a sustainable and secure future for women and their families. Note that this program service spun off into a new 501(c)3 entity effective 02/02/23, and the necessary applications to do so have been filed.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income fell $15k → $1k.

2 of 8 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 68% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of GOEBEL FAMILY FOUNDATION INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

GOEBEL FAMILY FOUNDATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 67% of grant income and the top three 86%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

68% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund GOEBEL FAMILY FOUNDATION INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. How long its funders stay

50% of GOEBEL FAMILY FOUNDATION INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 38% give in more than one year at all.

Share of funders still giving k years after their first recorded grant, pooled across every acquisition cohort. A funder counts as retained in a year only if it made a grant that year. Measured to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving — a funder cannot be counted as lapsed in a year most filers have not reached.

Where its funders are

68% of GOEBEL FAMILY FOUNDATION INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $12k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Wisconsin funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $25k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
