What Friends of the Erben Organ Inc does
Mission
Friends of the Erben Organ, Inc. was formed to support the restoration and conservation of the rare and monumental 1868 Henry Erben organ. It is the only three-keyboard Erben organ in existence, and is the only large, mid-nineteenth century pipe organ intact and unaltered in its original space: the New York City Landmark, the Basilica of St. Patricks Old Cathedral, which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A historic gem, the organ is a catalyst for the spiritual and artistic life of lower Manhattan, drawing music lovers and learners of all denominations, not only from the metropolitan area, but from around the world. With the decline of music education in public schools and the proliferation of commercial music on radio and television, Friends of the Erben Organ, Inc. supports the beauty of live musical performance not embraced by contemporary culture. It also supports the education and training of young musician and organists, afterschool music education progr

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $1.5M to $640k (−59%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
90% of Friends of the Erben Organ Inc’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (64% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 3 funders, grant income rose $250 → $7k.
1 of 6 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $243 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
