01What it does

What French-American Cultural Foundation does

Mission

To identify, promote and expand academic, cultural and scientific relationships linking france and the united states. We do this through artistic, educational and other cultural presentations, events, trips and perhaps most importantly by enabling introductions pertinent to the french-american relationship.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

On its FY2024 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

2024 was the culmination and realization of years long planning as we, established the f-acf chapter texas with naming leadership co-chairs, and then presented first programs in houston in partnership with french consul general for texas at rice space institute, the rothko chapel and at the home of one of our founding co-chairs we presented the french ambassador to houston with a welcome event, in dc presented first in savoir faire and innovation series discussion with louvre museum's olivier gabet, valerie maltaverne, ymer & malta and american interior designer thomas pheasant.

The French-American Cultural Foundation extended, expanded our mission of promoting the french-american relationship through various cultural programming with prominent institutions such as chateau de versailles, versailles spectacles, institut marie curie, lyfe institut, the houston ballet, meridian international center, the national museum of women in the arts, the embassy of france, the us embassy in paris, the us department of state, american library in paris, and mount vernon among others. The year's work and programs entailed working with existing partnerships, identifying new partners and elevating the foundation's work with the embassy of france to allow for broadening of our audiences on both sides of the atlantic. We worked with the american friends of lafayette and the consul general of france in texas to support the 200th anniversary celebration of gen. Lafayette's final tour of the us, culminating in planning the presentation of the lafayette-washington award for cultural diplomacy to be given in 2025. The award will be given to both a frenchman and an american instrumental in preserving the franco-american legacy. For the 4th year, f-acf brought a group of 35+…

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base narrowed from 4 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $113k → $312k.

3 of 10 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 4% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
