Mission

To tell the african american story in the african american voice.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. The theatre's programs primarily focus on the performing arts through an african-centered emphasis and philosophy. Throughout the year, the theatre puts on performances that, while entertaining, also educate the public on the protracted struggle for liberation. In addition, the theatre also provides free youth workshops that teach various forms of theatrical performing arts including drumline and instruments, youth choir, and theatre camp. Lastly, the theatre also acts as a community hub by offering building space free of charge for neighborhood groups, business associations, and other organizations to meet and work on making flint and genesee county a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

FLOYD J MCREE THEATRE leans on a few funders — its largest provides 94% of grant income and the top three 98%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

95% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund FLOYD J MCREE THEATRE.
